Claw-Foot Table

$0.00

In his first coffee table design for Lost Profile Studio, Oliver Wilcox was inspired by antique claw-foot furniture from a Los Angeles flea market. This style of furniture is thought to have origins in
China, where the claw would have been a dragon’s foot and the ball would have been a pearl. The motif has been interpreted by western furniture makers since the 1700s. “I’m particularly fascinated by claw-foot furniture that uses a glass sphere at the base,” Wilcox says. “There’s a dialogue between the fragile material of glass and its structural purpose within the furniture.” This new design is constructed from solid blackened brass, Brazilian four seasons quartzite, and cast glass in a shade of dark purple that references both the purple tones in the stone and the original claw feet that inspired the table.
