Uniting heritage and innovation, the meditative work of Morii celebrates the power of craft and design as a social and cultural catalyst: paradoxically both preserving and transforming enturies old textile and embroidery techniques that are a part of India’s matchless textile heritage. Stewarded by women in rural communities for generations, these techniques–which are in danger of being lost–are now part of a global design vision under the artistic eye of Brinda Dudhat.

This exhibition showcases Rabari, Jat and Sujni embroidery techniques and Vankar hand weaving from Sarli and are made by eighty female artisans spread across rural India. Honoring their skill and tradition, each work features different types of weaving, stitching, dying, and embroidery to form abstract topographies that express the wisdom and artistry of Indian women.
