Simon Leah is a British-born, Australian-based decorative artist. His practice is all about the applied surface, while his interest in is the interplay between light, colour, texture, and materiality. In recent years he’s incorporated functional features like lighting into his screens, mirrors, and objects. His recent work also plays with scale, from smaller domestic items like table tamps to large-scale installations in the public domain. His current work explores Victorian architectural decorative forms like Acanthus leaf ceiling roses and pressed tin ceilings, reinterpreting these using new technologies and new materials with both domestic and commercial application.
