Teej
Bugali, a 45-year-old woman living in the Sangawala village of Rajasthan, has been weaving for more than 25 years. She loves all colors, from the deepest warm hues to the deepest cold shades. She named her latest carpet “Teej” as she wove it during the popular Teej festival in India. During this festival, women fast for the entire day, abstaining from consuming food or water, and worship the goddess Parvati, the wife of Shiva. Bugali’s Teej carpet reflects her devotion to the goddess Parvati by incorporating elements that are dear to her, including flowers and printed “Chunari” clothing.
